My 2015 Reading Challenge
Reading is just my absolute favourite pastime, I find that to spend 3 weeks reading a thrilling novel is far more rewarding than spending 2 hours watching TV. Not that I actually own a TV per se, I generally stick to Netflix, Amazon Prime & catch up TV.
Don't get me wrong, I do get caught up and swept away into some absolutely fantastic TV shows as much as the next person - only recently we've enjoyed The Killing, Peaky Blinders, The Bridge and the ones I really should keep to myself such as Grey's Anatomy & Glee!!
Clearly I love TV & film, just look at my wedding invitation collections, many of them have sneaky references to TV shows hidden away in there. But at the end of the year when I look back at the TV:Book ratio, it always makes my heart sink a little, I always wish I'd read a little more. Last year I think I read 12, but the year before that was a shockingly terrible 2!
So, I've set myself a reading challenge for 2015 - 35 books in one year - that's a LOT of reading! I'd love for that figure to be 50 (or 52), by the time we hit 2016 but I do have other obligations such as running a business and many a camping adventure promised to my boyfriend Roob, but I'm gonna give it my best shot.
Here's the list so far:
There are a couple of books that I always vow to read again. I was tempted to add Lord of the Rings to the List BUT I already have a couple of biggies in here so maybe at the end of the year, if there is some spare time, I'll come back to LOTR!
To Be Completed...
The books that I've never finished for one reason or another, normally due to bad timing. I sometimes fall out of the habit of reading half way through a book, which doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy each one until I stopped & what better time to complete them?
Each birthday and Christmas I request books to add to my collection, here are a few that I've collected over the years which are still to be read. Can't wait for these ones!
You may notice that there aren't many in the list, I sometimes find it takes me a while to wrap my head around the language and there were only a couple on my bookshelf that I've not already read.
This collection consists of books where I loved the film and knew the book would be better & others that are always in the 'top books' lists that I've not already read.
Recommendations and/or books that I've always meant to read.
So there you have it, that's the list so far. I'm still a couple short even with the 7 Harry Potters in there.
This is where YOU come in! Tell me in the comments - What's your favourite book?
Which book would you recommend that I add to my list?
Recommendations are usually the best one. If you want to keep an eye on the final couple that I choose, you can always follow me on Pinterest (here's my reading challenge board), or even Goodreads if you can find me! Wish me luck & join in if you like!
P.S I've already completed 2 and it's only day 9 - so far, so good! =)
